STANDARDS FOR STUDENT BEHAVIOR

Del Sur School is a special place for learning. At school, students learn from books and also from meeting different kinds of people. Even though all students and adults that you meet may not become your best friends, it’s still important to get along with everyone.
The way a person feels about going to school depends a lot on how they are treated by the other people at school. It is important to remember that everyone has rights and responsibilities.

STUDENT’S RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are the rights and responsibilities each student receives. Please read them while asking yourself the question “What kind of school do I want Del Sur to be?”
I have the right to be happy and treated with understanding. I have the responsibility not to hurt others’ feelings by my words or actions.
I have the right to be safe. I have the responsibility to keep my hands and feet to myself and to follow the school rules.
I have the right to be myself. I have the responsibility to treat others equally and fairly regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, or gender.
I have the right to use the materials and property of this school. I have the responsibility to respect others’ property and to share what is ours.
I have the right to be happy and always to be me. I have the responsibility to be sure others are happy because of me!

HONESTY POLICY

In support of the District’s Academy Honesty Policy, I know I am expected to demonstrate acts of honesty at all times, I understand that teachers, staff and principal will not tolerate acts of dishonesty.

Acts of academic dishonesty are:

  • Cheating on test: Any intentional giving or receiving of external assistance related to any examination, test, or quiz, without expressed direction or permission of the teacher.
  • Fabrication/Falsification: Any intentional falsification or invention of data, citation, or other authority in a academic exercise.
  • Forgery: Writing or giving or misleading information to school officials by forgiving another person’s signature.
  • Unauthorized Collaboration: Intentional collaboration on an assignment between a student and another person, if such collaboration is not expressly directed or permitted by the teacher, this includes copying another student’s work, allowing work to be copied or completing assignment’s for others.
  • Plagiarism: Any intentional used of other’s ideas, words, or work, and creating such, as one’s own.
  • Theft or Alteration of Materials or Equipment: Any intentional and unauthorized taking, concealment, or alteration of student or teacher instructional material/equipment, including, but not limited to, the district data network, internet, and online resources.

STUDENT DRESS STANDARDS:  Dressing for success applies to all school activities.

  • Clothing should fit properly, so as to be able to participate safely in Physical Education and recess without discomfort or hindrance.
  • Clothing that is offensive or advertises, promotes or glamorizes drugs, alcohol or tobacco products, is not permitted.
  • Students are encouraged to wear shorts underneath their skirts, due to the amount of physical activity our students engage in each day.
  •  Hats may be worn in the common outdoor areas on campus: lunch tables, hallways and playground. Hats may be worn indoors with teacher permission.
  • Students should wear closed-toe shoes suitable for running club, PE and recess activities on the playground and the field.
  • For the safety of our students:

* flip-flops, beach shoes and slides are not permitted

* shoes with wheels are not permitted

* shoes must have a closed-back or a strap that wraps around the ankle

In an effort to maintain our primary purpose at Del Sur, the education of our students, the staff will address new fads that occur during the school year and parents will be informed of any updates or changes to our dress code.
